AutoCAD WS is now Autodesk 360

AutoCAD WS – Autodesk’s popular mobile, web and Mac app – is now known as Autodesk 360. The tool has been downloaded more than 12 million time in two years, and is still free with new functionality being added all the time. Autodesk Launches new Version of BIM 360 Glue with Redesigned and Optimized Interface

Autodesk announced last week that it has launched a new version of Autodesk BIM 360 Glue, a cloud-based Building Information Modeling (BIM) solution. Autodesk BIM 360 Glue extends the BIM process from design to construction by providing all stakeholders access to project information for model coordination and clash detection via desktop, mobile and web. The new release provides a redesigned and optimized user interface as well as support for larger project models, and improved coordination with Revit, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. With BIM 360 Glue, users can move more seamlessly between Autodesk Navisworks software products and BIM 360 Glue for more intelligent and connected workflows. Read more from the Wall Street Journal. BIM has clearly changed the way buildings are designed and built but appears to be having less of an impact on their operation and maintenance (although our 2011 and 2012 Acronym CAD Awards winners prove this theory wrong – both feature BIM as a solution for building lifecycle management). This is despite the fact that 90% of a building’s lifecycle cost occurs after construction is complete. BIM can deliver significant lifecycle cost and operational benefits.
