Lynn Allen's Top 5 AutoCAD Tips for Government Users
A few weeks ago Autodesk evangelist and Cadalyst contributor, Lynn Allen, joined our partners DLT Solutions and CADD Microsystems for a government seminar in Washington, D.C.
In addition to sharing her insights on future design trends, Lynn also presented her ever-popular AutoCAD Tips and Tricks. We caught up with Lynn afterwards for a quick chat and asked her: “What are your top tips and tricks for government AutoCAD users?” Here’s what Lynn had to say:
Tip #1: “I would probably say that my first tip is to try to upgrade and try to get as far forward as you possibly can because of all the great features you miss out on when you’re not on the most recent release.”
Tip #2: “I’m pretty much focused on the new features in AutoCAD 2016 right now and I absolutely love the new dimensioning tool which practically dimensions your objects by itself… It saves you lots of time and with less tedium.”
Tip #3: “(AutoCAD 2016) has a lot of improvements with PDFs, now all the text is searchable.”
Tip #4: “…bring coordination models into AutoCAD. If you work with Navisworks of BIM 360 Glue, you can bring those into AutoCAD 2016 if you want to. If you work with point clouds, a bunch of new features were added in for those too.”
Tip #5: There are also a lot if improvements to the everyday features. “For me, if you can remove one click from something that I do all the time well that’s a beautiful thing!”
