Just over five years ago, very few transportation engineers had even heard of Autodesk, but today more and more DOT agencies are adopting its software. But why are they making the change now? Cost savings, better workflows, and more have a lot to do with it.
The latest state to adopt Autodesk technologies is New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT)
Like many agencies, NMDOT is looking to save money. One big way to do this with to reduce the number of change orders on a project. Software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autodesk Navisworks and Navisworks 360 can help with that.
Another area that agencies want to see improvements in is in the way they get input from the public – model-based visualizations are a great way of doing this.
