3D Beyond Design: Using BIM Technology for Prefabrication to Remove Waste and Save Money
Are you automating a 2D wasteful process? Creating better designs is only part of the promise of BIM technology. Many small and medium-size organizations are using 3D design to collaborate with general contractors and construction managers, automate production of their designs and prefabricate building components such as mechanical equipment and curved glass curtain wall systems.
Learn how using BIM for prefabrication can help you remove construction waste and save money at Line/Space/Shape.
Simulate Airflow around an Object of Your Choice in a Virtual Wind Tunnel
And, in more news from Autodesk, the company has just revealed Autodesk Flow Design, a new simulation tool for designers. Formerly known as Project Falcon, Autodesk Flow Design is easy to use, and simulates airflow around an object of the user’s choice in a virtual wind tunnel. Users without any kind of simulation background can begin seeing and understanding airflow behavior around their model within seconds of starting the application. The product can benefit a variety of use cases in both the public and private sector. Vehicle designers, for example, can use it to understand how aerodynamic performance is impacted by form, and building designers can see how a cluster of new buildings might affect wind levels in the pedestrian areas connecting them. See more at Autodesk’s In the Flow blog.
