Federal Agency Modernizes Its Identity Management System
With so many cybersecurity breaches trending in the news and the increase in public demand for accessible information, it has become a top priority for government agencies to maintain a secure directory without limiting the amount of data users can access. The Federal CIO Council’s subcommittee created the Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management (FICAM) mandate to protect sensitive personal information amidst cybersecurity concerns.
Many agencies are now finding ways to make sure their infrastructures meets FICAM regulations. For example, the Department of Transportation’s agency responsible for regulating civil aviation had an identity management system which assigned users personal identity verification (PIV) cards. This created a few challenges because their existing directories didn’t use PIV cards so the agency was using a separate user certificate/PIV database as a temporary fix. This would not be in compliance with the FICAM mandate because no unique user certificate/PIV data would be produced. The agency needed to find a solution to create a unique relationship between the user and user certificate by combining user certificates and PIV data at each user identity record. The agency turned to DLT Solutions Professional Services – with its 20 year partnership and in-depth knowledge of Oracle to solve their challenges by implementing Oracle’s innovative and efficient Directory Services enterprise solution.
