What to look for at Symantec Symposium 2010

In July 2005, two of the largest brands in technology came together to create the world's fourth largest software company overnight.  The belief of providing a solution to both secure a customer's data and make it more available was a unique concept created by the Symantec acquisition of Veritas.  Since that time, Symantec has continued to take advantage of their position in the market by fortifying their strength in the data security market with further acquisitions which included BindView, Altiris, Vontu, MessageLabs, Gideon Technologies, GuardianEdge, PGP, and now, VeriSign. Apply the innovation offered above into a deserving market segment, the US Federal Government - this provides an opportunity for many.  Federal spending on information security continues to increase and will outpace IT spending with growth projections of nearly 50% by 2014.  To this end, Symantec has developed an annual forum targeted at the government community to communicate their vision and strategy, receive customer and partner feedback, and allow government leaders to share their insights through the Symantec Government Symposium being held on June 22, 2010. The Symantec Government Symposium will tackle tough issues such as protecting our country's most critical infrastructures, creating clarity regarding the threat landscape, and emerging technologies including cloud computing.  This is an opportunity that should not be missed.  I am personally looking forward to hearing from their leader Enrique Salem, the keynote speaker Howard A. Schmidt - Special Assistant to the President and Cybersecurity Coordinator, Executive Office of the President, as well as, many of the breakout sessions scheduled that day.
