Expanding our Reach into the Federal IT Market – DLT Acquires EMSI

Among the challenges of doing business as a VAR in the Federal IT space are staying up to date with technology, winning new business, and aligning yourself with best-in-class vendor partners. At DLT, we were able to conquer these issues by aligning ourselves with a DC-area business development consulting firm, Export Management Services, Inc. (EMSI). EMSI was co-founded in 1996 by Ed Jones and Van Ristau. As a consulting and international trade professional services company, EMSI helped corporations large and small increase their business within the public sector – both domestically and abroad. One of their more notable successes was helping Xerox build their public sector business within Central Europe. Beginning in 2005, EMSI worked with DLT’s executive team on strategy consulting and major procurement projects. And after only a year, it was jointly decided it would be mutually beneficial for EMSI to be acquired by DLT. “As a result of the acquisition, we [have] a greater presence in targeted solutions areas where we see significant opportunities for growth,” said Rick Marcotte, President and CEO of DLT Solutions. “The addition of EMSI to our experienced leadership team [has allowed] us to proactively offer our government customers realistic solutions to address their most pressing needs and improve our services across all types of work.” Following the acquisition, EMSI senior leaders, Ed Jones and Van Ristau joined DLT and now oversee all corporate business development practices and expanding our reach into the Federal IT market. Adam Shirvinksi also came over from EMSI and is now the director of Business Development Operations for DLT. Collectively, they have played an integral role in the on-boarding of new vendor partners like Google and BMC Software as well as launching our newly developed Cloud Advisory Group. In EMSI’s 10 year history, they had amassed 75 clients, the last of which was DLT. The DLT 20th Anniversary Art Piece.
